BoTox

Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxic protein produced by a bacterium. It is a SNARE protein inhibitor. The SNARE proteins are responsible for docking vesicles to the membrane of presynaptic cells for exocytosis and release. BoTox prevents acetylcholine from being released, and thus causes paralysis. In the face, this prevents wrinkle formation (and hence gives BoTox its cosmetic properties).
