Sildenafil

Sildenafil (commonly known as Viagra), is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor. Nitrious oxide is an unconventional neurotransmitter that can lead to cGMP production and thus the activation of certain kinases that result in vasodilation. Phosphodiesterases break down cGMP, so by inhibiting the breakdown of cGMP, a vasodilation effect can persist.
