Ouabain

Ouabain, found in the ripe seeds of the plant Strophanthus gratus. It is a sodium-potassium ATPase pump inhibitor, preventing formation of the normal resting potential of neuronal cells. It has its etymological roots in Somali for "arrow-poison," as it has served as a useful weapon during war.
